REWIND: Aha Moment

Junot Diaz

I was asked to be on the Oprah Winfrey Lifeclass Show in April 2012. The producers discovered an excerpt that I wrote about last year during one of the Lifeclass segments that I engaged in via online. I talked about how I was going through some things, but still was on my grind as a writer, artist, cultural sponsor, and humanitarian. One of the producer’s that contacted me and asked if I would like to be on the show, to talk about my experience with the struggle of being a writer in the 21st century, and still having a can do spirit. The rest is history. I was so excited about the opportunity. I will never forget the moment.

[I wish I could share the moment with you. I found out that the video of that ‘moment’ was taken down. However, it’s still documented as a link.]  http://own.mediasilo.com/weblink/D951E8A27D7E7F41C90683796A83113D/

💋...on my day off I learn more about my family history! I was invited by one of my new homies, we visited The Robert Stanley House. Every street in this area is named after a former slave! This area is considered the Southside/Breckenridge Area of Austin, TX. Well a few houses up - My cousin Willie Wells' ( The Great Baseball Player) home sits nicely in tact. I found out this morning that his daughter, Ms. Stella Wells ( Her grandmother is my great-great grandfather's sister.) died on July 4th 2019. I met her the first week in JUNE 2019 (she was 98 years young). I am grateful for knowing my history! #ubettathink2019 #allmyfriendsreadbooks #21stcenturyabolitionist #atxbougieblackni
