Academia, Confessions of a Writer, Librarianship

Finally, Goodbye Texas!

missouri

I will be making a stretch to the Midwest next week. I’ve accepted a job as an Academic Librarian/Assistant Professor at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO.

I am very excited, nervous, and ready. It has been a long time coming as it pertains to being born in the state of Texas, and having had the opportunity to live in Fort Worth, Dallas, and Houston. I will never forget the connections that I made, opportunities that helped me get to where I am today, and all of the love that was/is showering over me.

This is by far the best news that I’ve had to share since I’ve graduated. I will be writing about this experience in the coming months and will be sharing my story with the world. Get ready for more of my rants about pop-culture, literature, politics, and so forth.  I just upped my game! #blacklibrariansrock

#keywestflorida🌴 ...this is the ground that I stood on in which the slaves were buried. I had to find it and I did and what a feeling!
#africancemetery #higgsbeach #keywestflorida🌴 ...earlier today I had the opportunity to visit the African Cemetery that sits on a beach. I stood on top of this amazing piece of art and under it slaves are buried. I meditated and prayed. It was surreal and spiritual for me. #africancemetery #keywestflorida🌴 ...this is where my literary workshop has been held this week. We have two more days left. Today, my novella that is completed, was discussed and critiqued. The experience was amazing and I am very grateful. #ubettahink2018 #allmyfriendsreadbooks
