As a member of the Hip Hop Librarian Consortium – I had the opportunity to design the first book cover jacket for our latest publishing effort that debuted at the 2017 Association of College & Research Libraries Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The consortium had the opportunity to host a panel discussion about the newly formed group, publishing, scholarship, and about the future of hip hop education.
The Hip Hop Librarian Consortium, is a group of Academic Librarians from various parts of the United States, collaborating on an ongoing book-project series that features a bibliographic archive of Hip Hop scholarly resources for students, faculty, and life-long learners to use for research purposes.
Though my cover did not make the final cut, I still wanted to continue to share it with the world. The process was amazing and I believe it set the tone with regard to the body of work that we produced as a collective. In like manner, I designed the website and creative logistics as far as publishing the book.
