Figuring Out Inflexible Historicism: Spoonerism and Periphrasis in Racism, America, Life

‘No Dogs-Negroes-Mexicans’ : Racist Sign from Dallas, Texas. On View at the National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis – Tennessee, 14 May 2012, | Courtesy of Adam Jones, Ph.D.

The environment we live in is on edge – what is going to happen next? Honestly, it does not matter if I am a Democrat, Republican, or Independent at this point; I’m witnessing some of the most dire situations that I could have only imagined in the 21st century.

Since, the new presidential administration has taken reign over the White House, the energy that surrounds us is dismal to say the least. Everything is about a soundbite, fake news, and more fake news. What is news – it’s getting that bad…

My bite back, I just want to let it all out in prose. Tell a story about America, its truth and how it came to be. Possibly, then there will be peace in the midst of darkness.

Quickly – on the spot:

  1. a verbal error in which a speaker accidentally transposes the initial sounds or letters of two or more words, often to humorous effect, as in the sentence you have hissed the mystery lectures, accidentally spoken instead of the intended sentence you have missed the history lectures.

I live in a world that harbors racial injustice, a yet-to-be-determined war with North Korea, with a congress divided, alongside being under the leadership of a President that is a former reality TV star.

Say it ain’t so.

  1. the use of indirect and circumlocutory speech or writing.
    • an indirect and circumlocutory phrase.
      plural noun: periphrases
the use of separate words to express a grammatical relationship that is otherwise expressed by inflection, e.g., did go as opposed to went and more intelligent as opposed to smarter.

And, the funny part, all of this the real issues that should be discussed like Colin Kapernick’s kneeling for the National Anthem, and the natural disasters that are impending on our homeland, the injustices against the middle class, i.e. – taxes and the spewing hatred against minorities, healthcare, as well as the fight against women’s rights, the gay/transgender movement… the list can go on and on… and all of it is being reduced to social media jargon and meme’s.

So where do we go from here? I have no clue, but to speak out and discuss the issues at hand and vote!

I remember back when – way back when – it seems like it was way back when – there was peace when I woke up and I could think clearly.

These days, I wake up knowing that whatever is going wrong in the White House will affect me in some way – even if I only get to read about it.

These days, I believe spreading the truth about how Black lives do matter is more than a notion it’s like (now or never type ish); our legacy will continue regardless of what he, she, they, think or say.

These days, I understand that it makes sense to honor being fit and healthy for this battle that we are facing. There is no turning back. Either you are in or you are ain’t.

Back to the story:

U can always add to it.
